Pecan pie is a thanksgiving classic. It’s only good if it’s dark brown sugar and dark corn syrup. Toasting the pecans is also a must.
Mom loved making this, especially around Christmas time! Every year, the first Sunday of the month, the Tabernacle at Temple Square and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints put on a Christmas devotional. Beautiful singing. Inspiring messages. Christmas Spirit. We’d often invite a family over to eat this dessert after the show.
This is another recipe mom received from her good friend Kim Caldwell. We loved bread pudding! It was a common dessert on a Sunday evening. Later, mom would make a savory variation. She would cut some of the sugar, add sharp cheddar cheese and sausage. We’d eat it with pure maple syrup on Christmas morning!
Mom loved this cake, especially around Christmas time. Dad loves it too and will sometime ask for it for his birthday.
Cinnamon rolls are a classic at our house. We all love them! I remember Mom making these for my friends and I when we stopped at our house to deliver mom her Valagram (a yearly choir fundraiser where we would get paid to sing love songs). She also sent me on a few trips with a 9x13 full of these. I was supposed to share, but I definitely ate to many and got sick.
This tart is rich and delicious! It almost tastes like a giant truffle! Mom would make this occasionally. I mainly remember eating it for Jordan’s birthday because he loved it so much!
Peach Pie will always be a classic in the Hatch home. Mom would make these multiple times every peach season. Sometimes, she would make several per week! We all loved fresh peach pie with freshly whipped cream on top.
